Greetings from Nemcinany!

We are thrilled to share exciting progress on our mission to provide aid and safe housing to Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia. Despite the scorching heat, our dedicated team has been working tirelessly to renovate the old shelter, and we couldn't be prouder with the results so far.

One of the major milestones we have achieved is the installation of bedroom door frames. This significant step brings us closer to the completion of the windows, which will not only enhance the aesthetics of the shelter but also ensure the comfort and security of our future residents. We are eagerly looking forward to the day when natural light will fill these rooms, bringing hope and warmth to those seeking refuge.

Moreover, we are delighted to announce that the electrical system has been successfully installed. This crucial addition provides proper power supply to the area, allowing us to create a safe and functional environment. The inclusion of adequate electrical facilities ensures that our residents will have access to essential amenities, further improving their quality of life.

Upstairs, the walls are being meticulously skimmed and plastered, giving the space a fresh and revitalised appearance with each stroke of plaster representing our dedication to creating a welcoming atmosphere. This process not only improves the overall aesthetic appeal but also serves to protect and preserve the structural integrity of the building.

Additionally, we have been diligently applying lime plaster to the original mudbricks downstairs. This traditional method not only adds a touch of authenticity to the shelter but also enhances insulation properties. By combining modern and traditional techniques, we strive to create a space that offers comfort and respite from the challenges our Ukrainian friends have faced.

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the utmost comfort for our future residents, doorways and insulation are being installed upstairs for the bedrooms. These additions will provide privacy and a sense of personal space, vital for the well-being and dignity of those seeking refuge. We are committed to crafting an environment that promotes healing, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
